Fine Fruit February

Art

What I feel makes this series special is that I took a step back from my typical process and made the time to truly explore this new subject. The series is roughly broken into four phases:

Gathering | Composing | Studying | Styling

GATHERING
I sourced all the props for this series (Thanks Dad for letting me steal from your garden!) I felt it would help me feel more connected to my work knowing where the fruits came from.

COMPOSING
Typically I would reference other peoples’ photos (aka Pinterest) but for this series I wanted to create my own reference photos. Truly make it a unique collection of work to me.

STUDYING
I played with pencil, ink, oil pastels, gouache, acrylics, paper, vellum, handmade paper, and raw canvas. I did one composition multiple times with different mediums, taking the time to learn and understand from each.

STYLING
This might have been the most stressful part but was extremely rewarding in the end. Seeing all these unique pieces come together and feel complete was worth it.
